Community Liaison / Field Officer Program
Overview
Aurora has partnered with Tranby Aboriginal College in Sydney to develop a program to support community liaison/field officers in their work.
The program will include the following topics identified by NTRB staff as areas of high priority:

historical overview of the Australian legal system with particular emphasis on Indigenous
and land issues |
 |
the Native Title Act |
 |
other important related legislation (including the Racial Discrimination Act, World Heritage Act, Aboriginal Councils and Associations Act) |
 |
field officers as project managers |
 |
roles and responsibilities of field officers in a multidisciplinary team (including working effectively with legal and research staff) |
 |
strategies for managing conflict situations |
 |
managing the stress of native title work |
 |
presentation and communication skills. |

The program is designed to enable interactive and shared learning experiences and will include small group work, scenarios, role plays and the opportunity to practice new skills in a supportive environment.
