Overview
Negotiation Skills is a tailored skills-based program that provides a framework for negotiation and the tools to become an effective negotiator. The program takes an interests-based approach, which allows parties to explore all available options, enhancing the likelihood of acceptable outcomes for all parties. This highly interactive program is recommended for NTRB legal staff, management and senior community liaison/field officers, experienced in negotiating agreements alongside traditional owner groups.
Using presentations, exercises and small group coaching, this highly interactive program covers:
understanding the components of a negotiation |
the Seven Elements, a road map for undertaking negotiations |
preparing for a negotiation |
preparing agendas for successful at the table negotiations |
techniques for asking better questions |
managing conflict and breaking deadlocks |
tools for measuring success. |

Continuing Legal Education Credits (for WA)
The Aurora Project is registered as a "Quality Assurance Provider" for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) in Western Australia. WA participants are eligible for 7 CLE credits following their completion of Negotiation Skills with the breakdown as follows:
- Legal Skills & Practice - 5 units
- Values - 2 units
