Current Activities

Our current activities include:

arrow administering a placement and internship program that places law, anthropology and social sciences students at NTRBs, NTSPs, Indigenous Corporations, government bodies, community groups, not-for-profits and other organisations around Australia during the summer and winter university breaks
arrow staff training and professional development programs for NTRBs developed in consultation with NTRBs, that focus on addressing training and professional development needs of NTRB staff
arrow administering a scholarship program, in conjunction with Rio Tinto, which offers practicing lawyers the chance to study for a Masters degree in mining law at the University of Dundee in Scotland. Successful recipients must commit to work within the native title system for at least two years upon returning to Australia
arrow promoting native title work and NTRB career opportunities including promoting and coordinating secondment arrangements between employers and NTRBs
arrow maintaining a register of lawyers, counsel and anthropologists with experience in native title matters
arrowarrow establishing a locum service for short and long-term placements at NTRBs in critical need areas
arrow developing a model performance evaluation and learning needs assessment tool for NTRBs
arrow undertaking a needs analysis into professional mentoring for NTRB research and anthropology staff
arrow developing a community website for NTRB staff with member profiles and access to native title resources and Aurora program materials
arrow developing module 4 of the Miwatj Management Development pilot program in the Northern Territory for indigenous managers
arrow investigating the need for management training program in the Pilbara region of Western Australia for Indigenous managers and leaders.
