About alternative entry schemes

Alternative entry scheme is the umbrella name for a pathway to undergraduate study where direct entry requirements have not been met. Alternative entry schemes refer to a broad range of programs including access schemes, enabling programs, bridging courses and preparatory courses.

Enabling programs are alternative entry schemes that develop your skills and knowledge over a period of time to prepare you for university. They are recommended for people applying to university who did not finish high school or who have been away from study for a few years. Enabling programs focus on developing and enhancing the skills needed to study successfully in an undergraduate degree program, including writing, research and analytical skills. The length of enabling programs varies from a month to a year. Some enabling programs can only be taken on a full-time basis, on-campus. Check the details of each alternative entry scheme for information on duration, structure and flexible study options.
