Who hosts Aurora interns?

Aurora interns are hosted by organisations who work in native title, policy, human rights and Indigenous affairs including:

• NTRBs and NTSPs
• Indigenous corporations
• Government bodies
• Community groups
• Not-for-profit organisations.

What can host organisations expect from Aurora interns?

• Access to Aurora’s network of enthusiastic and motivated interns and alumni who have the potential to become employees

• To specify their internship requirements in accordance with their needs

• High calibre interns who have progressed through Aurora’s stringent selection process

• Interns prepared to assist and support your organisation wherever needed

• Interns for a four to six week, full time, unpaid commitment

• Interns to report weekly on their experience

• Ongoing involvement and support from the Aurora placements team in the management of each internship.

What is expected of a host organisation?

An Aurora host organisation:

• shares Aurora’s commitment to assisting Indigenous communities

• can be located anywhere in Australia

• should aim to provide interns with tasks related to their background and/or aspirations

• must provide adequate supervision and support for interns

• where funding is available, might consider assisting interns with a weekly stipend, airfares and/or accommodation costs

• must be prepared to have the intern supervisor complete a brief feedback questionnaire at the completion of each internship round.
